Designs a multi-channel customer journey: the node sequence, conditional branching, wait logic, holdouts, exit conditions, and a global per-contact message cap across every channel rather than a cap per channel.
Before you write
Run the input list below before you write anything. If one of those inputs is missing, ask for
it and stop. Do not return a draft with a warning on it.
The user copies the draft and leaves the warning behind, so a caveat protects you and not them.
Ask at most THREE questions. Hard cap. Before anything becomes a question, get it yourself:
read .agents/product-context.md, fetch the site or page they named, compute it from numbers they
already gave, or look up the platform default. Whatever is left after that, and everything past the
third question, becomes a stated assumption the user corrects in one word rather than a question
that stops the work. Number them, and say what you will assume if one goes unanswered.
Check .agents/product-context.md first so you never ask for something already recorded there.
No context file, no problem. Build it, do not bounce the user. If .agents/product-context.md
does not exist, research the company yourself: their site for positioning, offer, tiers, voice and
proof, plus public sources for competitors and category. Ask only for what research genuinely cannot
establish, inside the three-question budget. Write what you learn to .agents/product-context.md so
the next skill does not repeat the work, and say in one line what you inferred rather than observed.
Never tell the user to go and run a different skill before you can start.
Write it the way you would say it, out loud, to a coworker. Read references/house-rules.md
and apply it to everything you return. Two rules matter most, repeated here directly: never use
an em dash or en dash, anywhere, not once (use a period, a comma, or brackets instead), and
write for a 7th grader - plain words, one idea per sentence, short sentences that flow into each
other so the reader scans and understands on the first pass, never a sentence they have to re-read.
Answer first, ordinary words, top three rather than all fourteen. Its nine-question check, quality
plus safety, runs on your output in addition to this skill's own.
Constraints
Boundary: For single-channel email sequences without branching, use email-campaign. For cold prospecting sequences, use cold-email or email-sequence.
Where flow revenue actually comes from. Read What Flows Are Actually Worth in
references/journey-nodes.md before designing. Flows carry ~58-65% of email revenue, and automated
email produces ~37% of email-generated sales from ~2% of send volume - so a team choosing between
another campaign and fixing a flow is choosing between the 98% and the 2%.
The design finding that matters most here: a single-email cart-abandonment flow recovers ~2-3%,
while a multi-step flow combining email and SMS recovers 8-12%. That is a three-to-four times
difference produced by step count and channel mix, not by copy. So when designing or auditing a
recovery journey, settle the number of steps and the channels before touching messaging - a
one-email flow is not a weak version of a good flow, it is a different and much worse thing.
And treat the welcome flow's ~91% open rate as what it is: the highest-attention moment the brand will
ever have with that contact, which makes it the wrong place for a generic greeting.
Map the full lifecycle as a connected set of journeys where that is the goal - signup to champion - not one flow in isolation. The structure-before-copy rule applies to each, and it works the same for ecommerce and SaaS: an ecommerce path (welcome -> first purchase -> post-purchase / review -> replenishment -> VIP -> win-back) and a SaaS path (welcome -> activation -> trial-to-paid -> onboarding / adoption -> expansion -> advocacy, plus a save flow for at-risk) are each a sequence of journeys scoped to the customer-segmentation lifecycle stages, sharing one global per-contact cap across the whole set. Design the set, then hand each node's copy to email-campaign.
These recovery and revenue figures are current pack benchmarks - cite them with a date where they drive a decision (flows ~41-65% of email revenue from a low single-digit share of sends; cart-abandon single-email ~2-3% versus multi-step email+SMS ~8-12%; welcome ~91% open) [2026 sources: Klaviyo, Omnisend], and re-pull them rather than treating a static number as this business's own.

5a. Check the real customer-journey data first - how customers actually move from cold to champion - do not design against an assumed path. Before laying out nodes, pull the user's actual lifecycle data (from the Intempt MCP's lifecycle stages and transition history, or their export) and read the real path: the stage-to-stage transition rates from New Customers through Promising, Regulars and Champions, how long each step actually takes, where the largest drop-off is, and which step most customers never pass. Design the journey against where people actually stall - the node that matters is the one sitting at the real drop-off, not a step in a generic template. Where the transition data is not available, say the journey is designed against an assumed path and every step is a hypothesis until the data confirms it.

Design the entry trigger: which segment or event causes a user to enter the journey.

Map the journey as a node sequence: trigger → delay → message → condition → branch.

For each message node, specify: channel, timing (delay from previous node), and content direction (theme and intent, not full copy).

Add condition nodes for behavioral signals (opened email, visited pricing, used feature, etc.).

Create branches for each condition outcome (yes/no or multi-path).

- Email: max 1 per day, 3 per week
- SMS: max 2 per week, quiet hours 9pm-9am local
- Push: max 3 per day
Per-channel caps are not enough on their own. State the global per-contact cap across every
active journey, because a contact enrolled in three journeys that each respect their own caps
still receives three times the intended volume, and each journey looks correct in isolation. Name
which other journeys can overlap with this one and set either a precedence order or a shared
budget. If the platform cannot enforce a cross-journey cap, say so: the caps in this blueprint are
then per-journey only, which is a real limitation rather than a detail.
11a. Define exit conditions, which are separate from the journey simply ending:
- Goal achieved. The moment the contact does the thing the journey exists to cause, they
leave. Without this, someone who converts on step 2 receives the rest of the nurture sequence,
and a "still thinking it over?" message three days after they paid is the most damaging
routine failure in lifecycle marketing.
- Opt-out or unsubscribe. Immediate exit from every journey, not just this one.
- Negative signal. A cancellation, a refund, a support escalation, or a churn event should
pull the contact out of upsell and advocacy journeys rather than continuing them.
- Stage change. If the journey is scoped to a lifecycle stage, moving out of that stage
exits it.
- Max duration. A hard ceiling so nobody sits in a journey indefinitely because a condition
never resolved.
- Suppression list membership, checked at every send node rather than only at entry.
For each exit, say whether it is checked continuously or only at the next node. An exit evaluated
only at the next node still sends whatever was already queued, which for a conversion exit means
the message goes out anyway.
12. Specify holdout group if measuring incremental lift (recommend 10% holdout).
13. Define success metrics tied to the journey goal.
Output
- Deliver the journey blueprint with these sections:
- Entry: Trigger event/segment, estimated audience size methodology
- Flow Diagram: ASCII representation of the journey (use arrows, branches, labels)
- Node Detail Table: Columns: # | Type | Channel | Content Direction | Timing
- Guardrails: Per-channel frequency caps and quiet hours, plus the global per-contact cap across
all active journeys, the journeys that can overlap with this one, and their precedence. State
explicitly if the platform cannot enforce a cross-journey cap.
- Exits: every exit condition, and for each one whether it is evaluated continuously or at the
next node. Goal-achieved and opt-out must be continuous: an exit checked only at the next node
still delivers what is already queued.
- Holdout: Holdout percentage and measurement approach
- Success Metrics: Primary and secondary metrics for the journey
Visual flow diagram (only when the tool is actually available)
Check your own toolset before offering this, don't assume it. Look at what tools you actually
have access to in this run. If one of them publishes a rendered visual page (for example, an
Artifact tool in Claude Code or claude.ai), render the node sequence as an actual flowchart in place
of the ASCII diagram: trigger, delay, message, and condition nodes as connected boxes, branches drawn
as real forks, exits marked at the node they fire from, and the global per-contact cap called out
where journeys can overlap. A real diagram reads faster than ASCII art and scales to branching that
ASCII flattens. Use the exact node sequence already designed above; do not redesign the journey for
the diagram. If your host's artifact tool requires a design step first (Claude Code's does), do that
step before publishing.
This is additive only. Hand back the link alongside the full node detail table, never instead of it,
and keep the ASCII diagram in the text output for anyone reading without the link. If no such tool is
available in this run, skip this step without comment and return the ASCII diagram only. A missing
artifact tool is not a failure and not worth flagging.

Quality check before returning
Scope of these checks. Two rules before you run them, because testing found both failures in
most skills in this pack:
- A check you cannot answer from the inputs you asked for is conditional, not skippable. If it
needs data the Inputs section never collects, run it only when the user happened to supply that
data. Otherwise say the check did not run and name the input it needed. Never skip it silently,
and never invent the data to make it pass. Inventing is the likelier failure and the worse one.
- Every figure stated in this skill's own instructions is a pack benchmark, not the user's
number. Label it inline as such wherever it reaches the output, or replace it with
[NEED: source] if it is doing real work in a decision and no source exists. House rules 4b and
4c have the full version.
- Before returning the output, verify:
- Do the channel guardrails match the required limits exactly (email: max 1/day, 3/week; SMS: max 2/week + quiet hours 9pm-9am local; push: max 3/day)?
- Does every message node specify channel, timing, and content direction, not just a label?
- If incremental lift is being measured, is a holdout percentage stated (10% recommended)?
- Does every condition node have a defined branch for each outcome, with no dangling path?
- Do the success metrics and any timing or channel figures come only from what the user provided, with no invented conversion rate, timing benchmark, or channel performance number? If the journey logic needs one the user hasn't given, is it flagged as an assumption rather than stated as fact?
If any check fails, correct it before returning the output.
